International Opera Concert, Oct 5th
International opera concert coming to Piedmont
Concert violinist Joseph Gold will lead an evening concert of operatic music on Saturday, October 5th, at the PIedmont Center for the Arts, featuring Italian concert artists Marco Cadario, piano and soprano Antonella Romanazzi.
The 7:30 p.m. concert will celebrate the music of Giuseppi Verdi and Richard Wagner on the 200th year of their birth.
The concert marks a reunion of the three musicians who performed a concert at the Center for the Arts in October 2011, shortly after the Center was opened.
Cadario and Romanazzi begin their month-long American concert tour with the concert in Piedmont, which celebrates the bicentennial of the two most important opera composers of all time, Verdi, an Italian, and Wagner, his German nemesis.
Cadario, Romanazzi and Gold have performed together for many years. Most recently, they toured Italy playing many concerts at international music festivals. Antonella Romanazzi will sing popular opera arias, while Gold and Cadario will play fantasies inspired by the great operas. Of particular interest is the Moses Fantasy, regarded as the most important piano piece ever written for the piano.
Tickets for the October 5 concert are $20.
