JD Souther
Extraordinarily gifted singer/songwriter/session player JD Souther is back on the road again after a self-imposed hiatus. Having been the spirit that inspired the 1970s Laurel Canyon crowd, many of whom took Southers songs with them to the top of the charts, his rustic voice and poignant words can now be heard again. Following the release of his 18-track BORDER TOWN: THE VERY BEST OF J.D. SOUTHER, Souther now returns with his first studio album in twenty-five years. IF THE WORLD WAS YOU is both a bold step forward and a return to Southers Amarillo, Texas roots, where the young multi-instrumentalist grew up steeped in the improvisatory jazz sensibilities of John Coltrane and Miles Davis as well as in the music of rock pioneers Hank Williams, Buddy Holly, and Roy Orbison, all of whose influences are evident throughout.
