A 70th Anniversary "War of the Worlds" with John Larroquette!
Fake Radio, Los Angeles' Premiere Old Time Radio Comedy Troupe is pleased to present:
A 70th Anniversary Re-Creation of Orson Welles and The Mercury Radio Theatre's "War of the Worlds" with John Larroquette!
On Sunday, October 30, 1938 at 8 p.m., if you were listening to CBS you would have heard the following: "The Columbia Broadcasting System and its affiliated stations present Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre on the Air in... The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells."
Within one hour of those fateful words being uttered, Welles & his company had shocked the nation into believing that an alien invasion was underway in New Jersey. So great was the panic that the next day - Halloween - the New York Times ran the news as their lead story. It was, by all accounts, the day that radio made history.
To help commemorate the 70th anniversary of that event, Fake Radio proudly presents a recreation of that radio broadcast that made history. Our very special guest star, in the role that Orson Welles performed, will be five-time Emmy Award winner John Larroquette.
And we'll be performing in a historical location as well: on the "I Love Lucy" soundstage in Hollywood!
We look forward to seeing you there!
