LOCALS IN SHORTS
OAKUFF 2012 Presents LOCALS IN SHORTS The Humanist Hall, Saturday September 28th at 4:00 PM
From warehouse graffiti to Barbie's colonoscopy, this collection of local gems celebrates the weirdest and most talented Oakland filmmakers with this collection of animated, narrative, and doc shorts made by folks from around the Bay. A fisherman connects with a humpback whale in the waters off of San Francisco in the animated THE WHALE STORY. Escape from your math test into space on your scraper bike with Damian in SPACED OUT. Check out the emu-stork-swan-turkey in HOW TO MAKE AN ORIGAMI CRANE. One-hundred local graffiti artists take over the Flint Ink building in West Berkeley in SPECIAL DELIVERY BAY AREA 2012. Consider the effects of violence and war in INTERLUDE and RETURN. Try to avoid gluten and other uncomfortable date topics in FOOD COMA. With humor, wit, and a unique sensibility, a local artist takes Barbie out of the safe confines of her pink convertible and into a the world of boundary-pushing art in THE ALTERED LIVES OF LAVONNE SALLEÉ. And Oakland-based graffiti artist GATS (Graffiti Against The System) and his philosophy of connecting community via art are highlighted in GATS: VOICE OF ART.
