Bacchanalia at The Villa Terrace
Written and Directed by Brian Rott and Jessi Miller
The Quasimondo Milwaukee Physical Theatre & The Villa Terrace Museum are proud to invite you to partake in the revelry of the divine festival honoring the Roman God Bacchus, the enigmatic god of wine, fertility and ecstasy. Bacchanalia is back!
Generous use of dance, live music, poetry, and cuisine will envelope audiences in the sensuality and pleasure of this primal, mystical festival. Ancient ritual, myth, philosophy and the origins of theatre are explored through the work of local choreographers and musicians.
The gods will rumble on Mount Olympus, Socrates will be executed, the Cyclops will be blinded, satyrs will dance, and Medusa will wriggle. This exciting and cathartic Quasimondo original has something for any pallette, including a banquet of appetizers provided by Glorioso's. If you missed our world premiere last April, the season is now to indulge in our panoply of history and culture!
Warning: Mature content. May not be suitable for audiences under the age of 15.
!Opening night is on the Autumnal Equinox, Sunday, September 22 and features a Mt. Olympus Gods and Goddesses party following the production. Come celebrate the Autumnal Equinox at this costume party with hors d'oeuvres by Gloriosos, music by The Elementals, and cash bar. $45.00 includes the play opening night, $40 for those wearing their best toga or god/goddess costume. Come and see a Greek play the way it should be seen, in a toga.!
