The Healing Power of Play
In these sessions we will:
Examine leading research on the health benefits of play for children and adults Explore how socio-cultural norms around play shape our beliefs about play and our comfort level in engaging in play Increase awareness of the barriers to play and learn how to meet resistance playfully Practice simple games and exercises to unlock connectivity, spontaneity, and joy Learn 2 to 3 sequences of exercises that can be applied to open or close a group session to strengthen connectivity, aliveness, and trust.
Who is this workshop for:
Anyone who leads or facilitates groups regularly such as: teachers, social workers, therapists, health care professionals, clergy, those working in youth serving organizations or in re-entry. Individuals seeking to explore the benefits of play with others through Playback theatre for the purpose of increasing connectivity, aliveness, and trust in groups.
