David Huntsberger and Friends
Hosted by Andie Main and featuring Cory Michaelis!
Two Shows at 8pm and 10pm. Friday, September 13.
David Huntsberger is a stand-up comedian whose voice you might recognize from his weekly podcast Professor Blastoff with Tig Notaro and Kyle Dunnigan, which debuted at #1 on iTunes and was named to Entertainment Weekly's "Must List" at #2.
David is a regular on the Doug Loves Movies podcast, and has also been a guest on Sklarbro County, The Dork Forest, and Comedy Film Nerds. He has released three CDs, with the two most recent through Stand-Up Records. Humanitis, released in 2011, was named #1 on the Serious Comedy Site's year end list. His most recent CD, Explosion Land, debuted in the top 15 of the iTunes comedy charts.
In describing the album, which deals largely with human evolution, technology, and beliefs, Daniel Berkowitz of the Spit Take said: "Huntsberger rarely talks about himself, but he makes up for that lack of intimacy by not merely addressing topics ostensibly foreign to comedy fans, but by doing so in an intelligent, fluid and slightly absurdest way."
David has made appearances on Comedy Central's Premium Blend as well as NBC's Last Comic Standing and has written for The Benson Interruption on Comedy Central. He has been invited to the Bentzen Ball Comedy Festival in D.C., the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, Oregon, The Comedy and Burrito Festival in San Francisco, CA and the Moontower Comedy Festival in Austin, TX.
In his free-time, he enjoys drawing comics and animation which can be seen at his website http://www.davidhuntsberger.com
He is the creator of the upcoming web series "Earthbound" part of the Rugburn channel, which spawned from a comic book drawn by him of the same name.
Cory Michaelis (meh-kay-liss) brings an excitement and likability to the stage that is difficult to not enjoy. Cory was a finalist in the 2010 Giggles' Laff Off and has been featured multiple times in the Everett Herald and on Seattle's "Evening Magazine". That's right folks, local press!
Cory has also taken his act on the road to Louie Anderson's show in Las Vegas, Harvey's Comedy Club in Portland, The Gaslamp Show in San Diego, as well as many one-night engagements in the western half of the states. Now, Cory is working as host and producer of "Everett Comedy Night", a premier show in his hometown of Everett, Washington that sells out every month.
A teacher by day and comic by night, Mr. Michaelis keeps it relatively clean but edgy enough to keep the audience from feeling like they're in a classroom. Cory shares clever jokes about teaching, marriage without kids, his grandma, and race relations in an act that tries to get audiences to think but doesn't take itself too seriously. His style has been called "Drake Withamy", a flattering comparison to the 2003 Seattle International Comedy Competition winner and the first headliner Michaelis opened for. Louie Anderson said of Cory Michaelis, "He's hilarious but I think he is too mean to 'Roze' in his act". Come see what Louie's talking about!
