Annabelle is a former member of the Wailin' Jennys, a band that won several Juno Awards for their album Firecracker, which featured four of Annabelle's songs, and built quite a buzz during her tenure, touring internationally, playing festivals, and appearing frequently on Prairie Home Companion. Annabelle has released a stunning solo album, Resilience, which features Bruce Cockburn, Mary Gauthier, Michael Jerome Browne, Julie Wolf (Ani DiFranco's keyboard player), and a slew of other great players. It's getting rave reviews.
"Fiercely talented... Chvostek has a sultry voice you can't and won't forget." - Xtra, Toronto
"Annabelle doesnt fake the folk. She freaks it." - The Montreal Gazette
"The Wailin' Jennys' loss is the world's gain. Annabelle Chvostek has created a sensational solo album. Chvostek is a ridiculously talented musician from Montreal by way of Toronto who plays guitar, mandolin, violin, organ, accordion and who knows what else. Vocally, she's up to any task, from pop highs to gritty blues lows. On Resilience, Chvostek's original compositions are full of aching desire dressed in poetry and rendered with a musical imagination that seems to know no bounds." - The Star Phoenix, Saskatoon
Anais Mitchell| anaismitchell.com
Armed with an acoustic guitar and her songbook filled with pure poetry, Anas Mitchell is instilling youthful passion into spirited folk songs for a new generation. After seeing a few of Anas captivating concerts, Ani DiFranco signed the artist to her label, Righteous Babe Records. Spilling over with worldly metaphors, intense emotions and unshakeable reverence to the art of song, Anais's label debut, The Brightness, shimmers with creative spark.
A songwriter of startling clarity and depth, equally skilled at turning a melody or lyrical phrase into what you didn't know you needed until you heard it... fearlessly emotive...like Dylan, Cohen, and Welch, Mitchell weaves her stories into an effortlessly beautiful and cohesive tapestry with the skill of an artisan's carpenter, showing no seams. - ACOUSTIC GUITAR
Girlishly sprite and brimming with innocence... brings to mind the hippie-throwback charm of Victoria Williams, though... people more commonly note a resemblance to '80s pop star Cyndi Lauper. - NO DEPRESSION
