He created Spider-Man, Iron Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. The son of Jewish immigrants, Stanley Martin Lieber changed his name and transformed American pop culture. But Stan Lees Jewish roots ran deep and in his new book, Stan Lee: A Life in Comics, author Liel Liebovitz draws surprising connections between Lees celebrated comic book heroes and the ancient tales of the Bible, the Talmud, and Jewish mysticism. Was Spider-man just a reincarnation of Cain? Is the Incredible Hulk simply Adam by another name? Liel speaks with Unorthodox Podcast co-host Stephanie Butnick about the deeply Jewish and surprisingly spiritual roots of Stan Lee and Marvel Comics.
