Diamond S Ranch History Tour Saturday, October 5th Unique, One-time Opportunity Brought to you by The Eagle County Historical Society
Located four miles east of Eagle, the Diamond S Ranch was once a thriving cattle operation and settling grounds for some exceptionally hearty homesteaders. Currently, the ranch is a private, gated community whose owners have graciously allowed the ECHS to offer this one-time tour. The event will include a tour of Jack Oleson's private museum; and visits to the restored Bellyache Schoolhouse, the Howe and Cowden homestead cabins, and the Wohlgehagen stage stop. Docents will share information about the stagecoach route, the Bellyache homesteaders and the Diamond S Ranch.
Tours begin at 9 a.m. and run every 20 minutes with the last tour starting at 3 p.m. $25 per person (Benefits the ECHS)
The tour starts at the Diamond S Ranch, located 3.1 miles east of Eagle on Highway 6. Look for the Diamond S ranch entrance on the south side of Highway 6, which will be marked with balloons and signs. Follow the road across the bridge, past the big barn to the historic barn/museum. There is plenty of parking.
Vans will pick up passengers at the historic barn/museum for the trip up on Bellyache. Come early to browse the museum!
Allow 2 hours for the tour and museum. Advance reservations are required.
