Tapping into Twain 2013
Spend an evening celebrating one of Mark Twain's favorite beverages (we've got his sales receipts to prove it!) and walk away with a complimentary, specially designed Tapping Into Twain pint glass to remember the sudsy evening.
On Friday, September 27, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., our Sixth Annual "Tapping Into Twain" Oktoberfest offers a selection of locally produced beers and artisanal ales to tickle your palate. And scrumptious food from local restaurants -- including pizza, pasta, jambalaya, sliders and pulled pork -- to keep you full and happy. And all to the sounds of the XY Eli Band which "cranks out a powerful set filled with intense guitar, deep melodious vocals, flamboyant theatrics and an eye catching wardrobe adding to in your face rock originals." (The Journal Inquirer) Plus, DJ Jeffrey Mains will keep those beats going between XY Eli sets. And there's an added attraction this year! Meet author Tom Acitelli who will be signing copies of his new book, The Audacity Of Hops: The History Of America's Craft Beer Revolution. This is the event the Hartford Advocate has called "absolutely, positively, without any doubt whatever, one of the best charitable events Hartford has beheld in quite some time." It routinely draws more than 350 guests. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door ($40 for Mark Twain House & Museum members). A designated driver ticket is $20. All tickets include beer, food and the coveted, complimentary Tapping Into Twain pint glass. Last year sold out, so call 860-280-3130 or go to www.tappingintotwain.brownpapertickets.com as soon as possible. All proceeds benefit The Mark Twain House & Museum. Featured breweries have included Backeast Brewery, Blue Point, Boston Beer Co., Bru Rm/Bar, Cavalry Brewing, City Steam Brewery Cafe, Element, Founders, Franklin, Goose Island, Hartford Better Beer Co., HDI & Franklin Distributors, Hook & Ladder, Hooker Brewery, John Harvard's/Tully Cross Tavern, Narragansett, Old Burnside Brewing, Red Hook, Cona, Widmer, Omission, RI Distributing, Rogo, Sierra, Southport Brewing Company, Stony Creek, Tully Cross Tavern, Weed's Beer Company, Willimantic, Woodchuck and Zok's Home Brewing.
