Chuckanut Radio Hour with Special Guest Ryan Coonerty, The Rise of the Naked Economy
Join us for a special episode of the Chuckanut Radio Hour, hosted at Bellewood Acres. Our special guest for our September show is Ryan Coonerty for his book The Rise of the Naked Economy. Coonerty will be interviewed by Derek Long, Executive Director of Sustainable Connections. The book shows readers how to achieve both personal and professional success in an economy that does not guarantee lifetime employment. From the recently graduated to the recently laid off, Coonerty covers how the rise in non-traditional employment calls for a new infrastructure, strategy, and attitude for workers, companies, and communities alike. Through interviews with the people, companies, and policymakers who are leading the change and already profiting from it, The Rise of the Naked Economy provides an optimistic, humorous, and inspirational vision for readers who want reclaim their lives and livelihoods.

Ryan Coonerty is the co-founder and Chief Strategist for NextSpace. He served two terms as the Mayor of Santa Cruz, California and was selected by the Aspen Institute as "one of the nation's most promising young leaders." Ryan teaches constitutional law at the University of California, Santa Cruz and is the author of Etched in Stone: Enduring Words from Our Nation's Monuments.

The Chuckanut Radio Hour, a recipient of Bellingham's prestigious Mayor's Arts Award, is a radio variety show that began in January 2007. Each Chuckanut Radio Hour features a guest author and includes guest musicians, performance poet Kevin Murphy, Cascadia Weekly columnist Alan Rhodes, an episode of "The Bellingham Bean" serial radio comedy, and some groaner jokes by hosts Chuck & Dee Robinson and announcer Rich Donnelly. The Chuckanut Radio Hour's first guest was Erik Larson and has since included Alexander McCall Smith, Elizabeth George, Cheryl Strayed, Sherman Alexie, Tom Robbins and Garrison Keillor, among many others. The Radio Hour airs every Saturday evening at 6pm and Sunday at 9pm on SPARK RADIO, KMRE 102.3FM. Tickets for the Chuckanut Radio Hour are $5 and are also available at Village Books.
