Speaker Series: Susan Sully
Susan Sully will offer a lecture, "Southern Hospitality at Home: The Art of Gracious Living", based on her latest book from Rizzoli International Publications of the same title. This program will offer a visual tour of some of the most hospitable homes and gardens in the South and a thoughtful look into our fabled art of hospitality. The lecture will feature images that capture the beauty of all the places where Southerners weave their spell of welcome, from the front porch to the back garden and everywhere in between. From a well-loved family plantation to a chic Savannah townhouse, a country porch with a bathtub and a seaside house with a view, each featured home celebrates the art of gracious living, however refined or down to earth. Tickets are $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers.
Susan Sully is the author, photographer, and/or co-author of 14 books about Southern architecture and design, including her own titles, such as The Southern Cottage and Charleston Style, as well as books written with Bobby McAlpine, Norman Askins, Ken Tate, Phoebe Howard, and Historical Concepts. A graduate of Yale University with a degree in art history, she has contributed articles to The New York Times, Town & Country Travel, Veranda, Southern Accents, Southern Living, Martha Stewart Living, and other publications.
