Intro to Commercial Voiceover - LLTC Weekend Workshop Series w/ Adam Schulmerich
The side hustle is an incredibly important part of building a career for comedians and performers of all types. Commercial voiceover has the benefits of being a fairly lucrative way of using the skills of timing and improvisation that comedians are honing to make extra money, as well as gaining experience and making industry connections. This course is of great value to anyone who isn't certain if VO is a good fit for them, or is enthusiastic about the prospect but needs a jumping off point.
This three hour workshop will cover the basics of working in commercial voiceover. The course is organized in four parts: understanding the tools and equipment; breaking down commercial VO copy for performance; creating a VO audition; and moving forward in commercial VO, and will conclude with a Q&A.
Students will have the opportunity to work hands on with studio microphones and DAW and editing software, learn techniques to evaluate commercial copy for audition and performance, receive feedback on practice auditions using both solo and dialogue copy, and have their questions about the business of commercial VO, specifically in the Chicago market answered.
This workshop is aimed at performers who are new to, or considering working in commercial VO as a supplementary income.
GOALS: 1.) Help students decide if VO is right for them, and how to best invest their time and resources, depending on their industry goals. 2.) Provide insight into the operational aspects of the business, and give students some practical skills for both auditioning and working in a studio setting
The workshop is founded on the comedy principles of the critically acclaimed Lincoln Lodge, a national leader in cultivating and developing new comedy talent.
The voice over workshop requires no previous performance, writing or voice over experience.
Workshop schedule is as follows - Saturday, May 16th 12pm - 3pm
