Langtoun Jazz Festival 2020 Concert 8 Marianne McGregor
Marianne McGregor is a mulit-award winning, internationally acclaimed jazz singer and songwriter. After winning the prestigious 'Rising Star' award at the Scottish Jazz Awards 2019 and the 'Danny Kyle' Award at Celtic Connections in 2017 the singer is gaining high praise in the Scottish Jazz Scene for her distinct voice and songwriting ability.
After the success of her debut single 'Breathing in the Smoke' released in July 2019, Marianne is getting ready for the release of her debut album of self-penned songs in Spring 2020. Her debut single can be heard on all major digital platforms. Although Canadian by birth, the singer was raised in the north of Scotland and taught music by her family. Obsessed by her great jazz influencers Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse, Marianne fell in love with vocal improvisation, and communicating pain and love through her authentic jazz tone and delivery and exceptional songwriting.
Marianne has performed for audiences allover the UK, Amsterdam, New York and will be performing in Havana, Cuba in December 2019. During her career Marianne has been delighted to have been recognised by The Amy Winehouse Foundation, Post-modern Jukebox, Paolo Nutini, STV Glasgow and Glasgow Live among others.
