WLZ Presents: Nerd Hour
Spring is about to be sprung, and what better way to celebrate than to join us for WLZ Presents, a literary series devoted to exploring poetry and prose like never before. Word Lit Zine is a local publication jam-packed with nerdy puzzles and games, articles on what makes writing tick, and (of course) local poetry and prose. Now, WLZ is taking the page to the stage providing a series of lit-loving events that explore the intersectionality of storytelling and performance. This March will be another run at the Literary Nerd hour! ABOUT NERD HOUR: This event is for wordsmiths who peruse their local book stores, the Jeopardy!-watching Seattleite who binges books like most folks binge Netflix series. Join host Jekeva Phillips for a screening of Z-Sides, a new local TV program featuring PNW writers and poets, followed by a quiz show where audience participants will be invited to strut their literary prowess in low stakes, high fun games; and yes, there will be prizes! Don't miss the best (and nerdiest) part of your week. ABOUT Z-SIDES: Z-Sides is a televised program, produced by Word Lit Zine, which showcases Seattle's best and brightest literary artists, taste makers, and troublemakers. Each episode begins with a reading from the featured guest (their prose and/or poetry), followed by a talk with the artist. We don't merely discuss their current projects; we get to know them in a whole new light, exploring their lives, their perspectives, and their passions aside from writing, that is. Get to know your local artists and fall in love all over again with this great city of ours.
