SCA Reading Sessions: Bring Your Score To Life!
SCA Reading Sessions Bring Your Score To Life!
SCA Reading Sessions Saturday, April 25th 3pm-5pm Seattle Drum School - Georgetown 1010 S Bailey St, Seattle, WA 98108
The Seattle Composers Alliance is hosting a Reading Session Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Seattle Drum School in Georgetown. This is a great opportunity to glean feedback from musicians reading your score--what works well and what could be improved. If you are new to composing, even better! This is a great opportunity to learn.
Submissions are due April 11, 2020. During the Reading Session, your composition will be played by a live string quartet in your presence, so that you can get a feel for what works in a live situation versus the virtual instrument results you may be accustomed to in the box.
Length of work may vary, but each selected composer will have an allotted time, approximately 30 minutes, for read-through(s), commentary, and optional experimentation and variation. The musicians can self-conduct, or you are welcome to try your hand at it. Recording of your own session is also allowed.
Additionally, we are requesting a small non-refundable fee to compensate the professional musicians for their time, talent, and expertise. This will also enable the SCA to secure future sessions. Logistics are detailed below.
Please submit the following DUE SATURDAY APRIL 11 to sessions@seattlecomposers.org: Score and parts in PDF format Contact information (name, pronouns, email address, & phone number) MP3s (midi or recordings) are encouraged but not required
Please review the guidelines prior to submitting, you can view them here: http://seattlecomposers.org/sca-reading-sessions/
Submission fee: $25 for SCA members $50 for non-members
Selections will be based on a first come - first served basis, and all scores will receive feedback whether or not their score is featured at the reading session.
Composers will receive notification of acceptance on April 18, 2020.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Contact board@seattlecomposers.org for more information on scholarships and fee waivers.
We're excited to hear from you!
