Chelsea Williams: With a vocal-coach mother and that Joni Mitchell-inspired name, its hardly surprising that Williams embraced music early on. By 12, she was writing songs and hitting open-mic nights. At 14, she joined a band of blues players closer in age to the grandfather she never knew. At 21, she started busking at Santa Monicas Third Street Promenade playing her dreamy-sounding pop for big crowds forming on the street to hear this remarkable talent. Chelsea wound up scoring a high-profile TV commercial, singing in Maroon 5s Playing for Change video version of their hit Daylight, and landing not one, but two record deals. Catching the appreciative ears of prominent Promenade strollers, including Ron Howard and the revered influence Sheryl Crow to whom Rollingstone.com compared Williams in a 2017 10 artists you need to know feature was a huge bonus.
With an impossibly clear voice and lovely, poignant songs, shes the archetype of the gifted artist hovering on the fringes of greater attention, perennially expressing herself while the world makes up its mind. The Californian.
Chelsea will be joined by her producer and husband Ross Garren (Ben Folds) and (Bon Iver).
Gary Blackburn: Santa Cruz local celebrated singer-songwriter Gary Blackburn, brings together his smooth vocals, and stylized guitar picking to his original compositions and cool covers in the Country, Rock, Folk, Blues genres. Blending old school with contemporary, Gary will weave a memorable musical performance of songs that tell stories of love, forgiveness, and the paths that we choose. Gary will also be performing songs off his CD, Streak Of Gray, it includes Carolina, which is currently aired on KPIG 107.5 FM in the rotation mix.
Kevin Taylor playing keyboards will accompany Gary.
Janean Christine Mariani writes and sings stripped-down bare-bones Americana songs of life, love, loss, and every now and again a touch of sass and blues. Her setlists are an aural tapestry of her original compositions delicately woven with select covers honoring her professional influences, the revered songwriters: Mary Chapin Carpenter, Rosanne Cash, Brandy Clark, and Ashley McBryde. Her live performances are raw, loose, vulnerable and real. Her intimate style makes folks feel at home, as though she's singing to them in the comfort of their living room or gathered 'round a kitchen table. Traci Parker on bass will accompany Janean.
