Michael Hu is a 19-year old award-winning saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has appeared at Bakers Keyboard Lounge, Cliff Bells, Berts, the Michigan Jazz Festival, the Detroit Jazz Festival, toured in Europe with German bass player Dieter Ilg, and has shared the stage with notable musicians such as Ellen Rowe, Marion Hayden, Tia Fuller, Scotty Barnhart, Charles McPherson, Sean Dobbins, Vincent Chandler, Adam Larson, Andrew Bishop, and many others.
Michael began playing the saxophone at the age of 12 and soon acquired an interest in jazz. In high school, he picked up flute, clarinet, bassoon, and began to find his way into the Detroit music scene where much of his musical growth took place.
