Nancy Cassidy: Striking, out-of-the-ordinary imagery(Nancy) has a way of probing beneath the surface of things with the effective application of metaphor, whether it draws on water, storms, flight, time or space, all communicated via tunes that are not easily ignorable. I can't stress how rare this is in an era dominated by singer-songwriters who are usually more proficient at lyrics than tunes Jerome Clark, Rables.net, MULTI-PLATINUM singer and songwriter Nancy Cassidy, whose 15 projects combined have sold over 2 million copies, has just released her 9th album of original material, RIVERS RISING, offering 13 cuts of comfort, community, compassion and hope during times that need it. Like right now. Her millions of fans will recognize her signature stamp and smoky alto through the whole ride, with styles ranging from folk and gospel to feisty rock-a-billy. Cassidys mature songwriting talents are on full display. At times the tunes are tender, at others theyre right back at you, but theres a river of strength and resilience that runs under all of it. Her material has been recorded by dozens of artists over the years, most notably by Bruce Springsteen. And no one-sheet of Nancy Cassidy would be complete without mentioning that one of her tunes is out of this world: I Wanna Be a Dog was beamed up to the shuttle astronauts, and CHICKEN was featured on the original series Orange Is the New Black!
Janet Croteau: Janet is a Santa Cruz, CA based songwriter, comedian ,spoken word artist and psychotherapist. She is the creator of the spoken word troupe "Tell Me More, and recently released her first album Wild Heart. Janets music is infused with her quirky and effervescent spirit. She believes in the power of creative self-expression and says you cant stop being who you are or the real people will never find you.
Deborah Crooks: Born and raised in a rural area of California, Deborah grew up surrounded by nature, but close enough to San Francisco to be influenced by the citys history of social, musical and political upheaval. Her lyric-driven and soul-wise music draws on folk, rock, and Americana, as well as her study of writing at The Naropa Institute and travels in India, and is often compared to Lucinda Williams and The Cowboy Junkies. Shes released several CDs and EPs of critically noted original music, including the 2013 release, Little Bird, produced by Art Khu and described as "a masterful piece of work". She again worked with Khu on 2016's 7-song CD, Beauty Everywhere. Regularly performing throughout the US, her music has appeared the PBS Series Road Trip Nation and several compilations including the Songwriters from the Fog Compilation V1. Her latest 11-song collection, The Department of the West, was released in December 2019. Along with her solo work, shes co-founded the band Bay Station and its Love the Bay" Music & Sailing Video series.
