ENTER THE DRAGON
(1973) dir Robert Clouse w/Bruce Lee, John Saxon, Jim Kelly, Ahna Capri, Shih Kien, Robert Wall, Angela Mao [102 min; DCP] It's been over forty years since Bruce Lee became an international martial arts superstar and action movies haven't been the same since. Not only was Lee an amazing athlete with a style never seen before but he was also a remarkably magnetic and charismatic person. We're thrilled to feature this brand new digital restoration of his most well known film.
In ENTER THE DRAGON, Lee plays Lee, a Shaolin student who is invited to compete in a martial arts tournament by the mysterious Mr. Han, a rival of his teacher. Before he ventures to the island lair where the contest is to take place, Lee is approached by a British Intelligence agent who ask him to gather information about Han's suspected drug and prostitution activities while there. Additionally, Lee learns that Han's chief bodyguard was involved in the death of his sister. With so many reasons to hate the man, it's only a matter of time before Lee has a spectacular showdown with Han.
In the mold of most great martial arts films, ENTER THE DRAGON is essentially, non-stop action though broken up with brief scenes of intrigue and punctuated by banter with an engaging duo of American ex-pats (Jim Kelly and John Saxon) who are participating in the tournament. Really, the only way to experience these larger-than-life characters and their respective battles is on the big screen!
