ANCIENT FUTURE farewell concert
ANCIENT FUTURE farewell concert
"World music pioneers Ancient Future created the "world fusion" genre with its blend of Indian, African, Balinese, Middle Eastern, European, East Asian and South American music." -SF Chronicle
The exact lineup of Ancient Future that performed on the band's influential World Without Walls and Asian Fusion recordings will reunite to perform a farewell concert for their longtime keyboard player, Doug McKeehan, who will be relocating to the East Coast for an undetermined time to take care of his aging father. Besides Doug McKeehan, the reunion show features the historic lineup of Matthew Montfort on scalloped fretboard guitar, Jim Hurley on violin, and Ian Dogole on percussion. Their up tempo virtuoso world fusion music is an exhilarating mix of jazz improvisation with the exciting rhythms, exotic sounds, and enchanting melodies of world music.
Recently, their World Without Walls album was released digitally by Capitol Records. Twenty two years after its initial release, broadcasters worldwide voted the record as one of the top 5 world music releases.
Ancient Future has shared bills with other leading jazz and contemporary music artists ranging from Fourth World with Flora Purim & Airto, Tower of Power, and Craig Chaquico, to Acoustic Alchemy, Ottmar Liebert and many more.
"Marvelous rhythmic patterns ... truly magnificent tonal balances ... the shifting dynamics, the fabric of the ensemble, the emergence, (then gradual disappearance) of melodic lines and the esprit de corps are MESMERIZING." Philip Elwood, SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER
