With perhaps one of our countrys most important general elections ever on the horizon, the New Old Time Chautauqua has decided to do its part to help the peoples voice be heard. So its off Wisconsin for three weeks in July and August, for the NOTCs 40th Anniversary Voter Registration Tour into the heart of Americas Breadbasket.
In addition to bringing its traditional Chautauqua magic to rural and underprivileged communities, tribal groups, boys and girls clubs, and incarcerated citizens in womens prisons and juvenile detention centers, the New Old Time Chautauqua will be working to motivate and assist folks in registering to votein a state that has some of the toughest voter registration laws in the nation. NOTC will be working closely with get-out-the-vote groups such as the League of Women Voters.Almost 100 years ago, on August 18, 1920, women gained the right to vote in the United States. The Chautauqua movement was instrumental in this effort, sponsoring Suffragettes who spoke from Chautauqua stages across the country, for many long years before the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
This is your chance to support this zany traveling tent village that truly has a method to its madness, as it brings laughter, love, education, and the meaning of the right to vote to the beautiful state of Wisconsin this summer. All donations are tax deductible as NOTC is 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization. You can also send your donation to: NOTC (checks NOTC), PO Box 70173, Seattle, WA 98127
