Stephan Crump's Rosetta Trio
Best known as a long-standing member of the internationally acclaimed Vijay Iyer Trio, Memphis-bred, Grammy-nominated bassist/composer Stephan Crump is an active bandleader with twelve album releases in addition to numerous film scoring contributions. Known for transforming his instrument into a speaking entity of magnetic pull, his focus on creative instrumental music has led to collaborations with many of the leading lights of his generation.
In addition to his work with Vijay Iyer he can currently be heard with the Jen Chapin Band, Ches Smith Trio, Rez Abbasi Acoustic Quartet, Liberty Ellman Sextet, Secret Keeper (with Mary Halvorson), Crump's own Rosetta Trio features him on acoustic bass, along with Liberty Ellman on acoustic guitar and Jamie Fox on electric guitar. The Rosetta Trio operates with a true, collaborative spirit, exploring all sonic possibilities within this unusual instrumentation.
