Luminaries / Private Screening of Benjamin Marshall Society Film
Join us at Soho House in the West Loop for an exclusive screening and discussion of the new film about iconic Chicago architect, Benjamin Marshall. Cocktails and hors doeuvres served.
Benjamin Marshall was a flamboyant, early 20th century figure whose works shaped much of Chicagos architectural heritage. His designs included the apartment buildings lining East Lake Shore Drive, the Drake Hotel, the Edgewater Beach Hotel, the Blackstone Hotel, the Shubert Theater, the Southshore Country Club, as well as the iconic 1550 N. State Parkway apartments, and many others. A documentary depicting the achievements of this visionary Chicago architect was created by the Benjamin Marshall Society. The film combines rare personal footage of Marshalls adventures abroad, aerial shots of his spectacular buildings, along with interviews of architects who appreciate them, residents who lived in them, and the grandchildren who adore him, the film offers a glimpse into a unique larger than life figure whos life and legacy continue to inspire
