Grant Teeple Quintet
Grant Teeple has been surrounded by music his entire life, playing his first instrument, guitar, at the age of five. By 11, Grant found a new passion in music: the saxophone. First drawn in by solos in the classic rock groups he grew up listening to, Grant quickly found his calling on the saxophone in the Jazz canon. While finishing his Bachelors degree of Jazz Saxophone at Michigan State University, Grant has not only had opportunities to study with greats such as Rodney Whitaker, Diego Rivera, and Etienne Charles, but has also toured with Michigan State Jazz Orchestra 1 for two seasons with some of the worlds top jazz musicians. Although young, Grant has toured twice internationally - France and Japan - each tour providing a learning and playing experience unlike anything else. In January 2020, Grant traveled to New York with MSU Jazz Orchestra 1 to compete in the Innaugural Jack Rudin Collegiate Jazz Competition against other top schools, and placed 3rd in the nation. In addition to his saxophone training, Grant is also professionally trained in flute, clarinet, and voice. With his burgeoning career on the horizon, Grants music brings a vibe that fuses his crooning vocals with his straight-ahead bop saxophone.
