Alistair Barrie - Manstrong
In March 2020, Alistair Barrie was preparing to bring a new show about the state of the world and middle aged fatherhood to Bath Festival before taking it to the New Zealand International Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe.
As you may be aware, something else rather got in the way. Not only did the world get itself into more of a state than he could ever have envisaged, Alistair very suddenly found himself both unemployed and in charge of a three and a one year old. Or perhaps the other way round.
As a result, the show he is bringing to the 2021 Bath Festival is considerably grumpier than it might have been. Hopefully that's an improvement, but who knows? I mean, let's face it - he hasn't been to work for eighteen months. Still, at least it gets him out of the house, and for that he is ETERNALLY grateful.
"A no frills master of his craft" ***** The Scotsman
"No one does righteous indignation with the same brio as Barrie, an inheritor of the splenetic mantle of the great 80s alternative comedians" - The Guardian
"Topically on-point but very varied, very funny hour" **** Chortle.co.uk
