Photographer Michelle Bates has been making art with a Holga plastic camera since 1991. Her images have been exhibited worldwide, and she is well-known as a speaker and instructor, spreading the joy of photographing with these simple, low-tech film cameras.
At the Down Under Gallery, Bates has displayed images she's taken with her Holga over the last two decades, mostly of nature scenes. Here she presents photographs made in nature of trees, water, skies and from around the Pacific Northwest and on many road trips. The Holga gives a very unique view of elements we see every day. These images are on display at the Down Under Gallery through March 31st.
However, on March 6th, from 6p - 9p, Bates will be on-hand to talk about the camera, the images and her book, 'Plastic Cameras: Toying with Creativity'. She can also talk about the images she's taken over the last three decades of Fremont events, and Moisture Festival.
Bates has images of many styles taken over the decades: quirky, serious, color, black-and-white, and of events such as the Fremont Summer Solstice Parade and other celebration art events.
Come join us in celebrating Michelle Bates, and her art, during the Artist's Reception, and the Fremont First Friday Art Walk.
Light refreshments will be served All ages welcome!
