Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM Featuring the Philip Glass Ensemble Unplugged
Since 2010, Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center (BMCM+AC) has hosted the {Re}HAPPENING inspired by John Cages "Theatre Piece No. 1" (1952), an unscripted performance at Black Mountain College considered by many to be the first Happening. The 10th annual {Re}HAPPENING will feature the world-renowned Philip Glass Ensemble alongside a dynamic roster of local and international installation, new media, music, and performance projects.
The {Re}HAPPENING is a day-long event at the historic campus of Black Mountain College 15 minutes from Asheville. It is part art event, part fundraiser, and part community instigator, providing a platform for contemporary artists to share their response to the vital legacy of Black Mountain College by returning to its original site in the present day.
Hundreds of visitors of all ages attend the event each year. In addition to providing a forum for regional artists and an accessible, immersive, educational experience for attendees, the {Re}HAPPENING offers opportunities for guests to interact with artists, local businesses, and arts organizations.
