Haitian Folk Dance Class + Afro Flow Yoga Class
Class 2-3:30pm Join the Se Pam Dance Company for a traditional Haitian Folk Dance Class with live Drummers!
The class will consist of a combination of short rhetorical education (in order for the attendees to understand the social cultural context of the dances), instructions and traditional drilling. The class will cover 1 to 2 dances (depending on the attendees joining the class and their level of comfort and progression). The class will begin with Yanvalou. The instructor will provide cultural skirts for attendees that do not have one, in order to indulge in Kongo as well. Attendees are encouraged to bring a cultural skirt, if they have one(large bohemian one will do).
Class 4:30-6pm Come experience joy and elation through movement and sound. Afro Flow Yoga® infuses electrifying dance movements of the African Diaspora flowing with a meditative yoga sequence of gentle yet powerful stretches. Deeply connect with the soulful rhythms of live drumming, energize your chakras, gain strength and flexibility, and rejoice in the bliss of feeling grounded and peaceful!
With a mission to promote healing and community building through dance, music and yogic practices, husband and wife team, Leslie Salmon Jones, Ailey School Alum, and multi-instrumentalist Jeff W Jones created Afro-Flow Yoga to celebrate, honor and respect our shared humanity and cultural differences in a non-judgmental and safe environment.
