Gaining Traction with Stakeholders: Strategies for Success, Including Conflict Avoidance and Management
Have you ever wished that someone could help give you a few tips and tricks on how to effectively engage and avoid conflict with Stakeholders, at meetings, or at workshops?Well, you are in luck!

Hilary Wilkinson of VEDA Environmental has modified her upcoming two-hour training to tailor towards successfully managing and avoiding conflict during Stakeholder engagement, in meetings, workshops, and in the field! This is the perfect opportunity for field staff and non-field staff alike to learn important practices in planning and preparing for conflict avoidance/management.

Field staff: Rarely do we know when we will encounter conflict, but we should always prepare for the possibility!

This training will focus on these key objectives:
-Efficient and effective strategies for engaging stakeholders with differing viewpoints
-How to avoid and/or successfully manage conflict, especially in meetings and workshops

Hilary Wilkinson has designed and implemented stakeholder engagement processes related to Salish Sea ecosystem recovery efforts for close to two decades. In 2008, she co-founded Veda Environmental, a firm dedicated to connecting the dots between science, policy and people to help advance the protection of natural resources.  Hilary and her business partner, Sarah Brace, design and deliver science communication and stakeholder engagement trainings to federal, state and industry representatives throughout Washington state. Their audience also includes natural resource managers, scientists, and communications experts from public and private entities. Hilary is in the process of becoming a certified mediator, and weaves conflict management skills for environmental professionals into the curriculum. Prior to founding Veda, Hilary and Sarah worked for local government and state resource agencies leading public/stakeholder outreach efforts and technical advisory panels.
