An Evening of Gypsy Jazz and the Music of Django Reinhardt
Step back into 1920s,30s, and 40s with an evening of gypsy jazz and the music of Django Reinhardt, featuring the jazz quartet 440, led by Tomoko Iwamoto. 440 expands the gypsy jazz tradition of Django Reinhardt and Stephane  Grappelli with danceable swing standards from the era of Cole Porter,  George Gershwin & Benny Goodman as well as originals by the band. Their toe-tapping, snappy, hot jazz, swinging style is a delight to experience.

Tomoko Iwamoto, the leader of 440, has been in Boston jazz scene for more than 25 years. Being a "jazzy" violinist with a strong classical background, she expanded her repertoire in jazz, rock, pop to world music, toured with Hypnotic Clambake, while studying Jazz Composition and Arranging at Berklee College of Music. She appeared as a guest soloist with Mood Swings Orchestra and Women In World Jazz, and collaborated with modern jazz guitarist, Chris Mcdermott.

Guitarist Jack Soref, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, spent half a year living in Paris, where he jammed with the legendary guitarist Boulou Ferré and violinist Florin Niculescu. Jack can be seen regularly in the greater Boston area playing Django's music. He has performed as an accompanist for Jazz Manouche luminaries like Joscho Stephan, Tim Kliphius, Gonzalo Bergara, Aurélien Bouly, and Titi Bamberger.

Mark Chenevert, on clarinet and tenor sax has been playing in the Boston area for some forty years now, working with various projects including Limbo Race , Willie Alexander , and Hypnotic Clambake.

Bassist Jim Guttmann's career has taken him from smoky dives to Carnegie Hall, performing with the Klezmer Conservatory Band, violinist Itzhak Perlman, Broadway star Joel Grey, jazz singers Eartha Kitt and Mark Murphy, the legendary Boston string band Cheap Trills, guitar virtuoso Russ Barenberg, jazz & bluegrass violin wizard Matt Glaser, the Artie Shaw Orchestra and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.
