Berta Bigtoe
In 2018, Ben Astrachan and Austin Koenigstein, two of the hairiest musicians in the tri-state area, released a compilation of tape recordings, entitled The Gap [Demos] @ Rat City, adopting the name Berta Bigtoe from their friend Sivan's puppet creation. At the time, they were living in the droopy caverns of Boston, finishing school and slinging smoothies for the Harvard bourgeoise. In January of 2019, they received national exposure after BIRP! selected their single "Hold the Fort" for Song of the Day. In the aftermath of that glorious breath of unadulterated fame and success, they signed with Acrophase Records out of Nashville, becoming world-class sell-outs of the highest order. After selling out (see previous sentence), they moved to the gooey mountains of Chicago, where they continue to sling smoothies for the Gold Coast bourgeoisie and have extensive discussions about that time they finished school. This past fall, they released "The Creek" and "Bubbe's Blintzes," and they are slated to release what critics will hail as "Summertime Album of the Millennium" sometime around the summer, hopefully. They're thrilled to return to the East Coast for their 2020 homecoming extravaganza.
