Caribbean Art Show Opening with Music & Dance!
Join us for ISLAND TIME, a celebration of Caribbean culture featuring art, music and dance from the islands.
Performances will include Marco Ciceron on Steel Drums, De Mush Fire Band playing Original & Island music and Acho Brother, a critically acclaimed and best of the bay multi-genre musical project from multi-instrumentalist Hector Mayoral. The Puerto Rico-born, Florida-raised Mayoral alternates between singing in English and Spanish; there are melodic ballads and experimental noise excursions. Few other Tampa Bay acts are making music this challenging, varied and rewarding.
Also joining us will be Se Pa'm Company presenting Haitian Folk Dances. Haitian Folkloric Dancing is one of the richest in the Caribbean. It inventories over 100 different dances; very specific and with deep significance. Se Pam Dance Company concentrates on the most familiar ones; Kongo, Nago, Petwo, Ibo, Yanvalou.
This project is sponsored in part by the Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council of Arts and Culture and the State of Florida.
Food will be available for purchase.
