Otherness: Togetherness features three highly-regarded Asian American artists - Horatio Law, a Chinese American visual installation artist; Joe Kye, a Korean American violinist-looper, and Unit Souzou, a Japanese American taiko ensemble - coming together to share stories of experiences grappling with ideas of identity, home, otherness. The program will showcase each artists distinct voice and creative approach, and will also show commonalities amongst their experiences, melding together into a cohesive art experience to amplify the diverse perspectives of what it means to be Asian in America, both embracing Asian American as space for culture and community, but also pushing boundaries of stereotype, labels, and expectations.
This event was funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council.
