Diving Deeper
NYC Guest Artists present work along with Mission Improvable participants and guest citizens of Wooden Cities.
With a focus on building connections, Center Dance brings people together for Mission Improvable 2020: Diving Deeper. Mission Improvable is an annual Contact Improvisation dance workshop open to participants of all levels, facilitated this year by international choreographer and guest artist Paul Singh along with emerging teacher artist and performer Jack Blackmon from New York City. The workshop includes a public performance on Friday, March 13 at 7:30 at 700 Main Street Wasteland Studios, featuring a collaborative piece with local contemporary music ensemble Wooden Cities. Participants will work with concepts of touch, movement, and conversation to explore the theme of Diving Deeper.

The workshop will run from March 11 to 15 at Wasteland Studios. Facilitator Paul Singh will offer open discussion and practices on creating connections. After the performance on March 13, audience members are invited to stay, enjoy some refreshments, and join in on the discussion with performing artists of Diving Deeper. Conversations will revolve around the ways that practicing contact improvisation fosters strong, inclusive communities, both within and outside of the contact improvisation practice.
A short talk with the artists and light refreshments will happen directly after the performance.
