Brother Hawk at DRKMTTR
Brother Hawk TBA 3.6.20 7pm doors $8 ADV all ages
Brother Hawk puts on its morning jacket, unhitches its crazy horse, and gallops off in the direction of a big pink house somewhere over the hills and faraway. With this much horsepower at your command, why would you need to reinvent the wheel? The four piece Atlanta band deals in raging riffs and huge hooks. Rhythms pound and pulse as serpentine guitar leads uncoil and slither, spiked with venomous licks that only a forked tongue could produce. Their blend of Southern blues rock is firmly rooted in the earthy tricks traditionally traded for at the red clay crossroads but their live performances convey an electrified ebullience that blasts them into the stratosphere. On stage, theyre riding rockets fueled by a vicious cocktail of sweat and hellfire. An uncut, undeniable purity of purpose is palpable when the band is firing on all cylinders. Brother Hawks sound is the sunset that the hero rides into. Its red hot white light. Its honest emotion. Its alive.(Ezra Morris)
Once started, Brother Hawk wasted no time releasing their first EP, Love Songs, in June 2011, which they followed with a second EP one year later called Affairs of Plain Living. Beginning in 2014, Brother Hawk began touring outside of their native Atlanta, building a name for themselves throughout the southeastern U.S.
In 2016, Brother Hawk released their debut album, Big Medicine, a collection of ten songs from their previous EPs. They supported its release with full US and European tours as well as support dates with fellow Atlanta southern rockers, Blackberry Smoke. Brother Hawk has appeared on Lynyrd Skynyrds Simple Man Cruise, the Joe Bonamassas Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise, and the Southern Rock Cruise. Their latest album, The Clear Lake, was released in May of 2018.
In October of 2019 the band announced that Big Trouble Sessions, a new live ep and video series, is scheduled to be released on November 8th, 2019.
