Formed in 2016 Cloud Six is a horn-powered collective featuring some of Portlands finest young players and composers. Their live shows are full of energy, featuring electrified horns, funky bass lines and technical drumming, with moods that swing between cinematic soundscapes and rocking dancefloor ragers. Their mission of adapting the classic horn sextet to the digital era is reminiscent of past fusion pioneers, but with more contemporary influences like instrumental hip-hop and electronica. Their debut album released in October 2018 features at least one composition by each band member, trombonist James Powers, saxophonist Morgan Quinn, trumpeter Antonio Uribe, pianist Paul Paresa, bassist jamie Campbell and drummer Dave Kelsay, each player bringing their unique harmonic approach to the forefront. Lush melodic tunes like Powers Worthy of Love and Kelsays Prometheuss Gift run straight into mathy rockers like Uribes Not a Significant Source of Jazz and Quinns Perseverance. Dynamic and emotive solos from each of the players tie the tunes together and establish the Cloud Six sound
