Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the globe with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny, and exceptionally touching story, it is a delightful 90 minutes of comedic genius.
Heartfelt, gentle, and outright hilarious, this show is sure to keep you on your toes as you follow an eclectic group of mid-pubescent youth as they compete for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the students spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Nine spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box...
Directed by Kris Mish, with Musical Direction by Gianna Read-Skelton, and Choreography by Liberty Schultz.
Show runs 90 minutes with no intermission. General admission festival seating.
Please park and enter at the Southeast entrance by Walmart/Tim Hortons/Shoppers Drug Mart, as this will be the only door unlocked following the show. Walk straight in and turn right at the Jugo Juice. Follow signs to the green door.
