Jim Stopher Solo Piano Recital
KEYBOARD TITANS Benefit Concert for the College of Marin Symphony Orchestra
Many of history's greatest composers were also virtuoso keyboard players. On this program, enjoy a variety of dazzling offerings, from vivacious sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti and innovative variations by Mozart to Romantic showpieces by Clara Schumann, Frederic Chopin, and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
JIM STOPHER appeared at age 15 as soloist with the Louisville Orchestra, performing a Mozart concerto with an original cadenza. His musical education continued at Harvard University, the University of Arizona, and the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied conducting with master teacher Gustav Meier. Stopher has held the position of Music Director with both the College of Marin Symphony Orchestra and the Joliet (IL) Symphony Orchestra. At COM< he currently teaches courses in music history, theory, repertoire, and ear training; he also serves as the chair of the music department.
