EDI Initiative: Inspire Series
Kicking off Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiative at AIA Orange County with architects Dimitrius Lynch and Mandy Freeland. Join us on March 5th at 6 pm to learn about the importance of diversity in creating an equitable future in the profession, and hear the stories of growing an architecture firm from our guests.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will learn about the importance of diversity in creating an equitable future in the design profession. About Dimitrius Lynch: Dimitrius Lynch, founder of LYNES, is a SoCal native, born and raised in Compton, California. He is an architect licensed in the state of California, with over 12 years of experience. He is practiced both domestically and internationally in various building types specialty retail, creative office interiors, restaurants, medical facilities, and boutique hospitality with a focus in the residential market.
Beyond architecture licensure, Dimitrius is an accredited professional (AP) of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and WELL. WELL AP denotes expertise and a commitment to advancing human health and wellness in buildings and communities. In addition, he is the creator and lead host of Spaces Podcast, a show that discusses spaces we occupy everyday and their effect on society throughout history and into the future!
About Mandy Freeland: Mandy Freeland is a licensed architect and firm owner in Bakersfield, CA. She has worked in the architecture industry for more than eighteen years, on projects in nearly every project type throughout California and four other states. Her firm focuses on education, multifamily, and commercial projects. She was the AIA Golden Empire President in 2016, taking an active role in revitalizing the component. She is a speaker to K-12 students and college students, and was a speaker at the 2019 Young Architect Conference on being a parent in architecture. She co-founded a social media group for parents in architecture in January 2020, creating a place for support and empowerment of parents in architecture. Mandy recently started a think-tank group that will focus on public relations for solo and small architecture firms.
