GENESIS Featuring Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins 1970s to 1980s
The brilliant song writing of both Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins has always been the driving force behind the famed progressive rock group Genesis. The group evolved over time as Gabriel's love of theatrical presentations and wild costumes gave way to Collins' more straightforward singing style. In the beginning, their recordings were full-out concept albums that attracted a strong and loyal fan base. Their theatrical use of lighting, costumes, pantomime, and instrumental sections became legendary, although some of their performances are only preserved in fans' 8mm and 16mm films. Those fans are the only reason we have footage of Peter Gabriel's "flying" routine, which will be included in this show. This exciting tribute to Genesis also includes television footage, concert films, promotional films, and selections from documentaries, as well as some rare examples of the fan footage. You will be able to see how stylish and unpredictable their staging was. Some of the songs that will be showcased are "Dancing With the Moonlit Knight," "The Musical Box," "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway," "Earl of Mar," "Your Own Special Way," "Against All Odds," "One More Night," "Take Me Home," and many more. Approx: 110 minutes
