Small Business Lunch at Halls
The King Street Marketing Group and Halls Chophouse are pleased to present Norm Brody, Director of Commercial Development for MeadWestvaco, as the speaker for Small Business Lunch at Halls, Thursday, September 12, 2013.
Mixed-use commercial development of large properties north of Calhoun on Upper King and Meeting Streets on the Charleston peninsula is rapidly moving forward. Ever wonder just what it takes to organize and manage such an intricate construction and sales program? Norm Brody will tell you about the multi-million dollar Nexton Master Planned Community that is already underway in nearby Berkeley County.
The Nexton community is being master planned and developed by MeadWestvaco (MWV), a Fortune 500 Company with deep roots in the Charleston area. For nearly a century, MWV has been a leading corporate citizen in the Lowcountry.
Brody has the developmental responsibility for the office, retail, restaurant, multifamily and hospitality components of this vast project. The village will include hotels, apartments, and state-of-the-art LEED certified office buildings, as well as a myriad of choices for dining, entertainment and shopping. It will be a wireless community and the offices, homes and schools will be designed with sustainability and the latest technological advances.
Norm Brody joined MWV in 2009. He earned his BA from the University of Minnesota and his Law Degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn. Most of his career has been in senior real estate positions at some of the country's largest retailers and developers, including Target, Home Depot, Best Buy and Kimco Realty, where he was VP of Development.
Each month Small Business Lunch at Halls features a distinguished speaker from the business, civic or political arenas upstairs at Halls Chophouse with an imaginative three-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Niessner.
Tickets are $29 per person for the luncheon and parking. Doors open at 11:30 AM and lunch is served promptly at noon. Limited seating of 60 participants provides an intimate experience with each speaker.
Halls Chophouse is located at 434 King Street in downtown Charleston. Parking, validated at the event, is available at the Visitors Center Garage on Ann Street between King and Meeting Streets.
