Meet YA author Adi Alsaid at your Dallas Flagship HPB on Thursday, April 9th at 7 p.m.
ABOUT THE BOOK Adi Alsaid is an author whose books have been compared to that of John Green (School Library Journal). In WE DIDNT ASK FOR THIS, he weaves his best story yetan incredibly diverse and hopeful novel that combines the quirky playfulness and teen sensibility of The Breakfast Club with the unique multi-perspective, closed room storytelling of Bel Canto. Central International School's annual overnight lockin event is legendary. Every year, students look forward to a night full of school sponsored activities with their friends, delicious food, and covert parties held in secret right under their teachers' noses. Bonds will be made, year-long goals will finally be met, and stories that will be passed down from student to student for years to comesuch is the reputation of the CIS lock-in. But when a group of students protesting the destruction of the planet's ecosystem chain themselves to the doors and locking everyone inside the school, the night threatens to turn from legendary to disastrous. With the teachers distracted and their exits blocked, can the students of CIS come together to save the most iconic night of their lives?
ABOUT THE AUTHOR ADI ALSAID was born and raised in Mexico City. He attended college at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He's now back in Mexico City, where he writes, coaches basketball, and makes every dish he eats as spicy as possible. In addition to Mexico, he's lived in Tel Aviv, Las Vegas and Monterey, California. His books include Let's Get Lost, Never Always Sometimes, and North of Happy.
