Rocket Factory
Ever wanted to build and fly your own rocket? This is a fantastic opportunity to design, build and test fly one for yourself! Work on your own or as a family to build the best rocket, and then fly them on the beach. Our record is 100 metres.
Starting with some basic science this workshop shows you how to design an aerodynamic rocket that will really fly! Children may work on their own or as part of a group. Everyone, including grown-ups, gets to build and fly a rocket that you may take home with you.
The first 10 minutes of this workshop is an explanation of aerodynamics and how to build a rocket. Over the next 30 minutes you design and build your rockets each one will be different.
We then travel outside to the launch site (so bring your coats) and see how far they go! The record so far is 120 metres in the air. Will you break it?
Parents if you are not attending the workshop, you are still welcome to come to the rocket launch, 50 minutes after the session starts. You may wish to arrive a bit earlier and walk with your child to the launch site.
