With Social Distancing and CDC guidelines in place, The Pennsylvania Firefly Festival (PAFF) will provide two nights of interpretive firefly programs at two separate locations, Hearts Content ANF Recreation Day Use Area on Saturday, June 13, and Loleta Recreation Day Use Area* on Saturday, June 20. PAFF Firefly Guides will meet up to 25 registered participants at 9:30 pm at the designated location and provide a short informational program. Then, the guides will help locate, observe and identify the fireflies in that location. Space is limited to ensure physical distancing, minimize environmental impact and ensure a good experience for everyone. All participants are asked to pre-register ($5 per person + processing fees) for the preferred date and location.
Participants are encouraged to bring camp chairs or walking sticks. All participants should dress appropriately for the weather and a night in the forest. Long sleeves, pants and sturdy footwear are highly recommended. Families are welcome. However, this is a late-night event and may be unsuitable for very young children. Parents know best.
Wearing of face masks is encouraged and physical distancing (6ft) will be respected during the program. Participants assume all responsibility for any and all risk of possible exposure to the COVID-19. Participants will be asked to withdraw from the event if they have a fever or present other symptoms of illness. Please do not register if you have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks.
Flashlights are neither required nor necessary, but if used, must have a dark red filter. Pets, cell phones and flash photography are discouraged. Photographers who wish to attempt long-exposures are welcome.
The programs are rain-or-shine events, however, it is subject to cancellation in the event of severe weather or threats to public safety. No rainchecks or refunds.
For overnight lodging and accommodations, go to VisitPaGo.com or ForestCounty.com.
