Celtic Community Night: The Poinsettia Sisters present Irish Spring
Tis the season and the month of St Patrick. Such a perfect time to experience Irish Spring, a special performance by The Poinsettia Sisters. Imagine waking up to birds singing, shepherds
shirking, errant plough boys and young maidens on a quest for love. Servants wandering the newly blossomed woods eavesdropping. Cows missing, lambs leaping and four leaved clovers are all over the place. No one gets bored with tales like these. When the audience gets roaring with the chorus it just adds to the sheer pleasure of it all. And like the servant in the story, you can hear every single word at Artichoke Music. The best listening room in town.

The Poinsettia Sisters are a vocal group who perform traditional folk songs from Wales, Ireland, England and Scotland. The ensemble includes Andrea Wild, Kelsey Wilson OBryan, Dylan Wilde and Teresa Baker. Their material is delivered full of harmony and humour with a little percussive footwork thrown in for good measure. Irish Spring is a song-filled celebration of the season and of course it's good clean fun.

Following their performance is a community music session where all instruments, voices, and dancing feet are welcomed. Tickets $7-15 sliding scale at the door or in advance at BrownPaperTickets.com

Andrea Wild is a singer, producer and emcee from Liverpool, UK currently residing in Portland. She grew up in a Welsh speaking household and started singing with her brother Straford at folk clubs in Northern England at an early age. Andrea created and manages the high energy Celtic band, The Stomptowners and Welsh-driven Andrea Wild & The Bad Wolves. She also produces and hosts the unique monthly music event, Global Folk Club.

Kelsey Wilson OBryan grew up in Northern California. She has studied various dance styles including ballet,
tap, flat footing, modern, jazz, and aerial arts. Kelsey started Irish step dance at the age of 12,
going on to compete in regional, national and world competitions. Kelsey has studied with many top performers, including Nic Gareiss, Kieran Jordan, Kevin Doyle, Siobhán Butler, Alicia Guinn and Ben Power. In addition to dancing, Kelsey is a fine singer who shares her dulcet tones and intuitive harmonies in The Stomptowners and The Poinsettia Sisters.

Dylan Wilde grew up in a musical family in Northern California, spending summers immersed in the Appalachian folk singing and dancing of North Carolinas Blue Ridge Mountains. She enjoys exploring a wide variety of folk song and dance traditions, particularly Eastern European, old-time and Celtic. In addition to singing with The Poinsettia Sisters, she is currently studying flatfoot clogging as well as Sean-nós dance and can often be found practicing her steps in the grocery store checkout line.

Teresa Baker plays tin whistle and piano and she enjoys finding the unsung note in any chorus.
