This is a FREE event on Wednesday, June 24 at 9:00 pm. The program is explicitly and exclusively for the residents and business owners of Forest County. This is an opportunity for the LOCALS to see the fireflies without the crowds. PAFF Firefly Guides will provide a program specifically designed to help you understand and identify fireflies that are in our forest and backyards so that you are able to begin to answer frequently asked questions posed by your guests, customers, family and friends.
All participants should be prepared, but are not required, to walk both segments of the Guided Firefly Tour; Creek Walk and Synchronous Viewing, a total of 2.5 miles. You may leave or join the excursion at any time. Flashlights are neither required nor necessary, but if you are going to use one, it must have a red filter (available on-site). Bring drinking water. Wear protective clothing and sturdy footwear. Walking sticks and rain gear are recommended. Flash photography, cell phones and pets are discouraged. No smoking/vaping during the walks and synchronous viewing.
This program is subject to cancellation in the event of severe weather or threats to public safety.
For overnight lodging and accommodations, go to VisitPaGo.com or ForestCounty.com.
PAFF is a registered 501(c)3 and the all-volunteer board's mission is to educate the public and raise awareness about all the fireflies in NW Pennsylvania. Your donations are welcome and help to support our mission and the summer research intern.
