Daddy Issues: "Flirty, flighty girl pop never sounded better, even from The Runaways." - Cashbox Magazine (Canada)
When singer and guitarist Jenna Moynihan saw the phrase Daddy Issues scribbled on the bathroom wall of a now-defunct Nashville DIY venue, she mistakenly assumed it was the name of an all-girl punk outfit sure to become her next favorite band. Upon realizing that no such band existed, Moynihan and friends Emily Maxwell (drums) and Jenna Mitchell (bass) picked up their instruments, taught themselves how to play and started their own band. Three years later, Daddy Issues are gearing up to release their full-length vinyl debut Deep Dream, out 5/19 via Infinity Cat Recordings.
The band originally caught Infinity Cat's eye after tastemaker Casey Weissbuch offered the trio a spot on the cassette series he curates for the label, which has hosted releases from artists like Rozwell Kid, Colleen Green and Guerrilla Toss over its three-year history. Days after submitting their tape in the summer of 2015, the band signed to Infinity Cat as official artists, releasing a 7" split with Louisville band White Reaper later that year. Shortly thereafter, the band started work on Deep Dream with producer and label owner Jake Orrall (JEFF The Brotherhood, Colleen Green). Combining the sounds of '80s alternative, '90s grunge and '00s pop, Daddy Issues tackle the difficulties of friendship, heartbreak, mental health, sexual assault and a number of other issues that come with the package of youth in the modern world.
Heyrocco: "The relationship between Heyrocco and their fanbase knows no boundaries" states one fan, "When at a show, you instantly become part of the band and what they're doing. They're like magicians, provoking the audience just as they provoke one another onstage." Known for their unpredictable sets and uncanny stage antics, the newly L.A.-based trio look to return to the limelight in 2019 for another shot at glory. On Mexican Ashtray, Heyrocco reveal a mature, sweeter side to their primarily brash and jangly sound. "Some people have something to prove you know, that's not really why we're here." says singer Nate Merli "We aim to create an escape from reality for like-minded, independent thinkers. A place where you can think for yourself and do whatever it is you like to do." The group last left us with Waiting On Cool, the rather infectious follow up to their critically acclaimed debut Teenage Movie Soundtrack, which proved to be a stepping stone for the group landing them a record deal and various tours in the U.S., U.K., CAN, & Europe. Between the melodies, message, style, and attitude, Heyrocco are quickly becoming one of the most underrated, important bands in history.
Reality Something: Dirty Money is the first new song since Life Noise, the bands gritty, confessional, and poetry infused debut LP which was released in 2018 on taste-making Nashville label Infinity Cat Records cementing Reality Something as one of Nashvilles most important new bands, a force of sweet/sour honest lyrics and blistering guitars in a tight package.
But Nov. 8th Dirty Money is brought to you by legendary punk label No Sleep Records out of Southern California. An exciting and timely representation of the band expanding beyond Nashville and into the rest of the country. Catch them on tour this December on a nationwide run supporting LAs Heyrocco, a similar minded melodic alternative rock band with a cult following.
