Holly Golightly & The Broke-Offs
A BIT OF HOLLY GOLIGHTLY HISTORY
Holly Golightly started her musical career as a co-founder member of all girl garage band Thee Headcoatees, Thee Headcoats splinter group in 1991. She spent four years as a Headcoatee, breaking away to release her debut record, The Good Things, in 1995. Since her debut in 1995, Golightly has been very prolific, releasing 14 long play records and loads (too many to list) of singles for a wide variety of labels and toured America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe regularly. In 1999 she released an album with Billy Childish, 'In Blood', on which the two gleefully celebrate one chord, one sound, one Song. Another collaboration, 2001's 'Desperate Little Town', with Dan Melchior, marked a slight diversion as it is a mostly acoustic record. In the same year she also collected up of her singles and E.P's onto one double album called 'Single's Round-Up'. After playing some shows with The White Stripes in the USA, and supporting them at their some of their London shows, Holly became friends with Jack and Meg, recording a duet with them, 'It's True That We Love One Another', for their album Elephant. Holly has recorded with The Greenhornes, and they released a special Christmas 2002 single together on Damaged Goods called Little Stars. Holly also appears on the Greenhornes album Dual Mono which is out in the States on Telstar. Over the years Holly has been guest vocalist on various other bands projects, including live with Mudhoney and Rocket From The Crypt, appearing on several releases with them. There was also a new 7" called Walk A Mile, with an exclusive b-side, Don't Fuck Around With Love, featuring the ever-so wonderful Sexton Ming. Holly sings the title song, 'Theres An End', for the recent Jim Jarmusch movie Broken Flowers and has another song also included on the movie sountrack. Most recently, Holly had a Christmas single out for 2006, 'The Christmas Tree On Fire' was a live sensation over the holiday period at her London shows. Also, Holly and her long standing stand-up bass player (from her US touring line-up) Lawyer Dave, have been recording songs for their new side-project. Holly Golightly and The Brokeoffs new album 'You Can't Buy A Gun When You're Crying' is due for relaase in March 2007. And they will be touring the USA and Europe together, under this guise, through spring time. Hollys new solo album will be out in Autumn 2007 and full tour dates will be confirmed for later in the year. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
